Hi! The first thing you should do is visit your family physician and have your cholesterol (HDL and LDL) level determined by an offiical blood test. Your body (liver) naturally produces its own cholesterol. Foods you eat will add additional cholesterol. If your LDL cholesterol level is high your doctor may suggest you take prescription statin medication (eg Zocor, Lipitor, Crestor) that lowers your cholesterol levels. Sometimes these medications, which are relatively expensive, may also cause undesireable side effects (Goggle these from legitmate government/medical sources). Reducing your intake of foods high in cholesterol (eg egg yolks) and adding ground flax seed (flax is also high in soluble fiber!!) to your cereal etc will help in lowering you blood cholesterol.
