Q. Is ibuprofen the same as tylenol aspirin?

"Ibuprofen is not the same as tylenol..."

No, Ibuprofen is not the same as Tylenol. Ibuprofen is an anti inflamatory. Tylenol is Acetaminophen, a pain killer. Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid, a pain killer and also anti clotting agent. Aspirin is the least harmful and most effective, in my opinion.

Q. Is ibuprofen the same as tylenol aspirin?

Asprin is suitable for 80% patients on long run. Remaining 20% are going to develop stomach related issues (Bloating/ GERD). so the patients who are heart patients be catious in taking Asprin regularly. As you will develop GERD and compain of chest pain.

Q. What can you take when allergic to tylenol, ibuprofen, and naproxen and you have chondrosarcoma?
my finace has chondrosarcoma in his spine and he is allergic to tylenol, ibuprofen, and naproxen. is there anything out there that he can ask his doctor for, for pain? he's tried tramadol and it really didn't do anything for him. the cancer is located close to his spinal cord and he says he is worried that if it is removed he will be paralyzed for life and refuses to go through that. any help??

Talk to the doctor, Tramadol is a synthetic codeine, there are other versions of it that are stronger(synthetic codeine), Darvon comes in pill form with aspirin.

"Okay ibuprofen helps reduce the swelling of whatever hurts..."

Okay Ibuprofen helps reduce the swelling of whatever hurts!! It takes care of the problem, because the problem is that whatever hurts is swelling, so it reduces it helping alleviate the pain! Tylenol or Acetemetaphine works on the brain, not the pain itself. Instead of helping what is hurting like the Ibuprofen does it goes to the brain and stops the signals of pain being transmitted from the brain to the problem area. So you think there is no pain, when in reality it hasnt done anything to help but try to trick you. So stick with the Ibuprofen for your problem! I'm not saying that it works in every case but out of most of them it will over tylenol. Hope this helps!

"I usually feel better within 30 minutes..."

maybe aspirin? Usually, I just put a heat pack on my head. You can fill a sock with rice, and put it in the microwave on high for a minute and a half. I usually feel better within 30 minutes! hope this helps.

Q. Does aspirin at any dose thin out the blood, or the lower the better? is it safer than tylenol, ibuprofen?
i take regular strength aspirins, with the safety coats, and have no problem with them. do aspirins at any strength thin out the blood, or is it the lower the better, or the higher the better? is it better for your system than tylenol, or ibuprofen? do tylenol or ibuprofen act as blood thinners too or just aspirin? if you take cholesterol lowering drugs, and aspirins, ...can this greatly reduce your chances of cardiovascular/circulatory type of problems? thanks.

"And ibuprofen can help with managing pain..."

First, Luke, You need to talk to your doctor before taking these medications to thin your blood. There is a lot more involved than just taking different aspirin. Generally, the more aspirin you take the thinner your blood gets. Because of this some doctors would recommend taking x baby aspirin, and then some drug manufacturers started making lower dose aspirin just for this purpose. While tylenol (acetaminophen) and ibuprofen can help with managing pain, and reduce fevers, and sometimes swelling, they aren't known for thinning the blood. BUT if you take too much of the wrong things or combination of drugs, it can cause problems - no matter what drugs. Check with your pharmacist and let them know what over-the-counter medication you are taking. They can work with your doctor to make sure you don't take medications that cancel each other out, or cause problems together.

"Tylenol is over rated and bad for your liver..."

My guess is you are suffering from pleurisy. A temporary thing from which you will recover fully. It is an inflammation of two layers called the pleura that surround your lungs. TAKE IBUPROPHEN, as this helped me immensly because it reduced the inflammation which, if I'm right, is the problem itself. However something might have caused the pleurisy like an infection which will require further treatment. Tylenol is over rated and bad for your liver. Take shallow breaths so you don't anger the pleura any more. This condition may lead to effusion which caused me lots of pain. I suggest googling pleurisy if you want to know more. Take it easy till you see the doc

Q. Is it ok to have a glass of wine after taking ibuprofen/tylenol throughout the day?
ok so i got into a car accident yesterday, and the dock had me take 800 mg ibuprofen around 6:00pm and earlier on around 1:00 took 2 tylenol. i would love to relax with a glass of wine this evening.... is this safe ?

Check the labels on the bottles carefully. But if you aren't a regular heavy drinker (regularly more than three drinks per day), you should be perfectly fine.

Q. Is it okay to mix tylenol and ibuprofen?
i'm sick with a cold/flu/whatever (coughing and nasal congestion) and have a slight fever but i'm also pmsing and having cramps. is it okay to take tylenol cold for the fever and ibuprofen for my cramps or should i just stick with the tylenol?

"Take ibuprofen..."

yup, in my experience, it's fine. don't overdo it on either one though. they can be harsh on the stomach and liver. it's actually best to alternate the meds you use for these particular symptoms.. if you figure a dose lasts about 4 hours... take your tylenol cold meds, then about 2.5 hours later, take ibuprofen. 2.5 hrs later, tylenol, 2.5 hrs later, ibuprofen. hope you feel better!

Q. Has anyone found it to be true that if you take tylenol or ibuprofen while body building you'll get more resul?
i read an article that said if you have ibuprofen or tylenol with weight lifting you'll get better results than if you didn't. has anyone done this, and found it to be true or false?

"Ibuprofen is an nsaid (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug..."

It's false. Tylenol especially...my wife's a nurse, they rarely use tylenol because it is just useless. Other nurse's and doctors have backed this up. Ibuprofen is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). That means it is meant to reduce inflammation. This is counterproductive to building muscle. The muscle needs to become inflamed as to promote more blood flow to the area (bringing much needed nutrients). If you had a really, really good workout and you are just extremely sore, yea, take it. If you would rather just live through the soreness and build a little more, leave it alone.

Q. What are the differences among advil, ibuprofen and tylenol?
how do you know when to take which medication ??? how about hay fever like aches and pain? my pharmacist told me to take advil. my doctor told me to take tylenol. what are the difference? i also know about ibuprofen few months ago, my pharmacist told me to take it for hay fever like body aches and pains. i am very confused.

"Advil is ibuprofen..."

Advil is ibuprofen. Unless you have ulcers or allergies, there is no particular reason to pick one over the other. It is just personal choice. I have a preference for recommending ibuprofen over acetaminophen; why, because it works better for me.

Q. Pain relievers other than tylenol and ibuprofen?
for small to moderate pain (such as back and neck aches, as well as head aches), what do you think is the best type of over-the-counter medicine to take? i currently take ibuprofen. i also know about tylenol, but i have a concern that there may be something that is better for you than these medicines. like natural supplements, for example? what do you think works the best and is the best for your health?

Advil and Motrin
