If you have experienced a blighted ovum- there is a very good chance your body will continue to have symptoms of pregnancy. A blighted ovum occurs for a number of reasons- in my case the doctor postulated that two sperm reach the egg simultaniously causing chromosomal problems (a baby can only form with one set of chromosomes not two). So my body got all the way to the point of preparing a home for the growing fetus-without there ever being a fetus- so at 8 weeks when I went in for my first exam- I could see a rather large sac-where my body had prepared itself for the baby- but it was empty-no yolk. For about another two days I experienced mild symptoms of pregnancy including breats tenderness and barfiness-then all of a sudden I felt great-tons of energy and about two days after that I passed the sac with minimal blood and maybe about a quarter cups worth of tissue. So in graphic detail- it is completely possible for your body to have pregnancy symptoms without an actual live beating heart in a baby. As soon as your body believe that there is implantation the hormone HCG will kick in-and this will give you many symptoms, but as your body detects that it is not a viable pregnancy the HCG will decrease and symptoms will disappear.

Not necessarily, no. HPT`s, or home pregnancy tests, work by measuring the level of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) present in a woman`s blood or urine. This level builds up over the entire course of the pregnancy, beginning from day 1, and even after a complete miscarriage or an abortion, there will still be some HCG left in the body/bloodstream (and therefore the urine) which will still show up as a "positive" result on a HPT for many weeks. The only way to tell for sure at 11 weeks if the baby is still alive is to have a series of blood tests done by your doctor every few days to determine if the HCG levels are rising like they should, have an ultrasound done to check on the fetus & look for it`s heartbeat, or to check for the heartbeat with a doppler monitor. Also important to note: if you have not been to a doctor by 11 weeks to know for sure that the baby is implanted in the uterus and not someplace else, or that there is even indeed a fetus present at all, PLEASE schedule an appointment immediately and get everything checked out. Ectopic and molar pregnancies can give "positive" results on HPTs (more often called "false positives" due to the outcome), and both of those scenarios put your health and life at risk the longer they are left unknown and/or untreated.

You should not take the 5 hour energy dring during pregnancy because it has among other things : caffeine, mood accellerants. These items are not for pregnant women. If you need energy, take vitamins from your doctor. Or, take Vitamins in the B`s. If you do this, make sure you take extra calcium as B vitamins drain calcium and you need extra calcium when pregnant.
