I don't think it will help her very much, if you ever need to take more than double what a perscription is or a box then it IS NOT WORKING move to something else.

How many tylenols would it take to almost kill yourself? i'm getting back in touch with one of my friends who is telling me how she got out of the psych ward a few weeks ago. she said she overdosed on tylenol pills and the doctor told her that she came really close to killing herself. she didn't get kidney or liver failure. i feel like it would be out of my way to ask her how many she took, as she made it clear she doesn't want to go into full detail.

That depends on a lot of factors including her age, if she drinks, if she abuses drugs, and the general health of her liver to begin with. Now as for me, I took 25 pills and each of them at 650mg of Acetominophen (Tylenol). That 16.25 grams of Tylenol which for my body weight, is 1.3x the lethal dose for 50% of people who ingest that amount, or what's called, the "LD50". Your friend could have taken 10 pills or 30 pills. But it was likely around 15-18.

Most likely you will damage your liver before you take enough to knock yourself out. Take a sleep aid if you need to sleep, not a pain reliever.
I would highly recommend consulting a pharmacist or a doctor.

Q. How bad is 2 tylenols after a night of drinking? ok so i have sensitive teeth and i had a cavity filled about 3 weeks ago. doesn't' seem like i drank enough...pretty much hit the increase blood circulation without the numbing. my teeth hurt soooooooooo bad.
i mean i know tylenol / alcohol is bad period......but deal with things on a relative scale.

i think you need root canal therapy because you had a really painful tooth,, and you juz had your teeth filled, if it's painful while you're not doing anything (eating/drinking) it seems like you have root canal or gum problems
there's also a probability that you have periodontal or gum problems, if there's plaque accumulation inside your gum, it could cause real bad pain
juz go to the dentist and ask for Xray for your tooth.. and see the result ^_^
if ALL the tooth are sensitive, means you really have a sensitive teeth, just brush with SENSODYNE but make sure you left it on the teeth for at least 2 minutes, if less than 2 minutes, it wont take any effect..
if tylenol doesnt work, it seems that you really have to consult a dentist

Q. What would happen if someone swollowed 4 tylenols? not that i'd do it, but a lot of my friends would. they say they'd do it to get high, but i don't know if it'll make them high or if it would kill them (or at least make them really sick). and i just want to know if they'd be okay if they done this, so i can tell them what exactly will happen if they did. and, i don't mean one kind of tylenol, i mean 2 ultra, and 2 500....i don't know what the difference between them is.
4 tylenols are not enough to cause injury to a healthy adult sized human. However, I have seen one patient who had underlying liver disease who went bright yellow, got liver pains and had to come to hospital from it - but their liver was pretty precarious to begin with.
As far as I know, 4 tylenols does not make you high.
Tylenol generally doesn't make you high, but is sometimes sold at raves to unsuspecting people who take a blank tablet thinking it's ecstacy and then go all huggy and get a "high" from it purely by placebo effect.
It wouldn't harm them unless they repeatedly took doses.
If you have enough paracetamol (acetaminophen) it will injure your liver and more than enough can kill you.

Is it safe to take ibuprofen in a one hour span of taking two tylenols? ok i just got my power chains (braces) tightened this morning. and now they feel horrible... i took a tylenol right after school at 4:30. then, at 5:00, i took another tylenol. it is 6:30 now, is it safe to take an ibuprofen?
yes it's safe to take tylenol and ibuprofen together.
4800mg ibu and 5000 tylenol is WAY TOO MUCH in my opinion.
Try not to exceed 3200mg of ibuprofen and 4000mg of tylenol in one day.
If you're skinny you should take even less.
A good strategy is to alternate the two medicines. Say for example you take 400mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours, and you take 300mg of tylenol every 6 hours. You can take one first, then 3 hours later, you take the other one. So you're still taking each medication every 6 hours, but you're switching and alternating between the two.
In one or two days you'll feel much better and you won't need meds anymore. Make sure you take food or lots of liquid with ibuprofen.

3 Tylenol one time is NOT going to put you on the liver transplant list... tylenol isn't good for your liver IF you abuse it. I have taken tylenol for everything my entire life (I'm allergic to Ibuprofen) and have no liver problems. Ibuprofen would probably work better because it has anti-inflamatory proporties which means it will decrease the swelling. I would reccomend that you try to drink a warm liquid, either tea, or warm jello water (just put 1/2 the cold water in and drink it warm it actually tastes pretty good). Have someone look down your throat with a flash light... if there are white spots back there you NEED to go to the doctor. Otherwise you can wait a couple days to see if it gets better before going to the doctor. Vitamin C is always a good idea. Take a hot shower and close the bathroom up to let the steam build up, sleep with a humidifier (if you can), don't worry about the tylenol.... if you are old enough (17) you can take 3. Just don't go crazy and take 3 every 4 hours. Try to stick with 2/3 every 5 hours and don't take it for more than a week without consulting the doc.

Q. I took a couple of tylenols and it caused some stomach problems i think? i feel sick and i also have diahrrea. i tihnk tylenol damaged my stomach. is there anything i can do to make my stomach better?
they question I would ask is what did you take the tylenol for? It is possible you have a little virus going on and has nothing to do with the tylenol.
In addition, always take medication like that with a cushioned stomach, eat something before you take any aspirin or tylenol.
I would take your temp and see if you have a fever, it might be something not linked to the tylenol.
Either way I would eat bland things, and dont try to take anything to stop the diahrrea, allow whatever is going on to eliminate from your system.

Q. I took 2 extra strength tylenols and syrup with acetaminophen for 2 days. will i be ok? i took one dose of benylyn syrup for dry cough(one dose which is 10ml) and 2 extra strength tylenols yesterday and today.

The drugs involved are for colds and unless you grossly overdose either, or both. The amount you stated should not cause problems.
When in doubt, ask a pharmacist, or read the suggest dosage on the labels. |
