Whether they are called Accuweight, Accu-trim, The Bead Diet, etc. is a non-issue, as far as I am concerned, because the intent is all the same. The beads placed strategically behind your ear, or other pressure points, signal the hypothalamus in your brain that you are NOT hungry, NOT starving and in fact are full and satisfied. This is all the beads do so that you can create a calorie deficit in your diet in order to lose weight. The caloric reduction is huge, in fact, and would be strenuously difficult without the pressure beads. This method is intended for people who need to drop weight quickly in order to achieve a physical state where exercise is possible as some people have physical pains and limitations due to being overweight. The diet also works with your body`s chemistry to provide it with just the correct amount of nutrients it needs. Therefore, it is crucial to adjust not just the amount of food intake, but the type of food. Accuweight, for instance, provides a very specific regimen of only 1.5 lbs. of fruits and vegetables for two days, followed by only 20 oz. of milk and yogurt for another two days, and then alternating every two days, thereafter. Sounds very restrictive, huh? They do allow "free" items, such as coffee, tea, diet soda, sugar free jello, broth, etc., so long as it is "zero" calorie. This heavily restricted diet is simply called detoxification. Ridding your body of excess fat, as they claim to not disturb muscle and organ mass. Once your goal weight is achieved, then a maintenance program begins, whereby foods are added back into the diet slowly in order to discover a plateau where you do not gain the weight back. This program guarantees a minimum of 15 lbs. lost per month, if you stick to the program. Some adverse affects are low blood sugar causing dizziness and leg cramps due to potassium deficiency. These are easily solved with a mixture of hot water and honey to increased blood sugar, and consuming bananas on your fruit/vegetable days to increase potassium.

Accuweight`s food protocol is very simple. The entire diet is a detox program, so it is extremely limiting while you shed your fat, not muscle. For the 1st two days you can have up to 20 ounces of whole milk and plain yogurt, but no more than half of that (10 oz.) can be yogurt. Reduced fat milk is not allowed. Your milk and yogurt can be flavored with zero calorie syrups (not just sugar free). You can supplement with diet soda, herbal tea and anything zero calorie. The next two days you can have up to 1.5 lbs (raw weight) of any non-starchy vegetables. Beans, corn and peas are not allowed, neither are potatoes. You may also have 2 servings of fruit, no sugar added. And that`s it, you just alternate this protocol every two days. A multi-vitamin and Calcium supplement is recommended along with some Electrolyte enhanced drinking water. BUT...if you attempt this eating plan without the beads and their customized placement according to the dimensions of your ear and your weight, then you WILL cause serious harm to your body (muscle mass, heart, liver, etc.) due to starvation. The bead protocol is crucial to signaling your hypothalamus that you are NOT starving. So, please do not eat this way without participating in the entire program, for you own health and safety!
