Why are you doing the bead diet? Why not do a diet that is proven to work? Try Weight Watcher, Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig, Herbal Magic. These are all well know successful diets. The Bead diet, I have heard is a sort of mystic far east scam.

My 2yr old just ate some of those silica beads so we called poison control they said that its non toxic they are just a choking hazard "thank god" it`s like swallowing sand so if to much gets in the air way its can cause them to not breath and choke

Ok, I wanted to clear up some controversy within the comments provided. Whether they are called Accuweight, Accu-trim, The Bead Diet, etc. is a non-issue, as far as I am concerned, because the intent is all the same. The beads placed strategically behind your ear, or other pressure points, signal the hypothalamus in your brain that you are NOT hungry, NOT starving and in fact are full and satisfied. This is all the beads do so that you can create a calorie deficit in your diet in order to lose weight . The caloric reduction is huge, in fact, and would be strenuously difficult without the pressure beads. This method is intended for people who need to drop weight quickly in order to achieve a physical state where exercise is possible as some people have physical pains and limitations due to being overweight. The diet also works with your body`s chemistry to provide it with just the correct amount of nutrients it needs. Therefore, it is crucial to adjust not just the amount of food intake, but the type of food. Accuweight, for instance, provides a very specific regimen of only 1.5 lbs. of fruits and vegetables for two days, followed by only 20 oz. of milk and yogurt for another two days, and then alternating every two days, thereafter. Sounds very restrictive, huh? They do allow "free" items, such as coffee, tea, diet soda, sugar free jello, broth, etc., so long as it is "zero" calorie. This heavily restricted diet is simply called detoxification. Ridding your body of excess fat, as they claim to not disturb muscle and organ mass. Once your goal weight is achieved, then a maintenance program begins, whereby foods are added back into the diet slowly in order to discover a plateau where you do not gain the weight back. This program guarantees a minimum of 15 lbs. lost per month, if you stick to the program. Some adverse affects are low blood sugar causing dizziness and leg cramps due to potassium deficiency. These are easily solved with a mixture of hot water and honey to increased blood sugar, and consuming bananas on your fruit/vegetable days to increase potassium.

My information is the the Bead Diet is just a gimmik. It is a low carb diet with the beads behind your ear. You would be better off to purchase the Dr. Atkins Diet book. You would just pay $15.00 and become an expert. Why not do that or go on Nutrisystem or Weight Watchers.

I am a success story for use of the bead diet. I lost 95 lbs in 5 1/2 months on "The Bead Diet". The beads are not the diet - they are a tool used to help you. They work by stimulating the hypothalamus (the master regulator of the brain) to decrease hunger and stimulate FAT loss, NOT lean muscle breakdown. Doing the diet by itself is dangerous and fatal without the beads, because you are only consuming approximately 400 calories per day. If you follow the diet and use the beads correctly, you will lose the weight. But you cannot cheat, and you have to remember to rub the beads on time, every two hours.

My information is that it is mostly a eastern mystic scam. Calories make you lose weight, not beads. Why not do a proven diet like Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Herbal Magic. These are all well proven diets. Try these.. Even the Acai Berry diet gets good results and is easy. Have a great day.

My research is that the beads are a gimmick and based more on eastern mysticism than fact. The diet that goes with the beads is just a low carb diet. It is the low carb diet that takes of the weight, not the beads.

You place the beads behind the ears. The accu bead diet is mostly a low carb diet with some mysticism mixed in . It would be popular and understood among people from the far east like China. Personally, I don`t think the beads work. It is the low carb diet that does the work and the rest is just a gimmik. Why not try Jenny Craig, Herbal One or Weight Watchers? They are all tried and true.
